For over 80 years, the State Enterprise "Research and Design Institute of Pipe

Industry named after Y. Osada ”(SE“ NDTI ”) remains the leading scientific center
of metallurgy of Ukraine and the CIS countries in the field of technology of
manufacturing and quality control of pipes of various purposes.

NDTI works with domestic and leading foreign pipe manufacturers. Currently,
NDTI is one of the leading centers of metallurgy in Europe.

One of the priority areas of NDTI during the last 50 years is the creation of
scientific and technical products for power engineering and energy: technologies
for the production of billets, hot, heat and cold deformed pipes, research and
quality control at all stages of manufacture, technological support of their
manufacturing, and more. SE "NDTI" conducts a lot of work under agreements
(contracts) with pipe plants, including foreign ones, related to the control and
improvement of existing production technologies, development and
implementation of new advanced technologies for pipe production, as well as
development of modern regulations for pipes, pipe billet and other metal products.

NDTI cooperates a lot not only with pipe plants, but also with metallurgical plants,
energy engineering companies, energy companies, thermal power plants, combined
heat and power plants, nuclear power plants of Ukraine and others.

SE "NDTI" has many years of experience in developing regulatory documentation

for pipes and other metal products, technological instructions for test methods,
research methods and quality control.

NDTI has a powerful laboratory for testing pipes, billets and various types of
products of different grades of steel and alloys for long-term strength and creep
(CRIPP), which has no analogues in Ukraine and neighboring countries. The
laboratory has 64 testing machines.

For many years SE "NDTI" performs expert research on the causes of defects in
pipes during their manufacture and the causes of premature (accidental) damage or
destruction of pipes, products from them, various types of metal products during
their operation, including abroad.

The main structural units of the institute:

- Department of Materials Science, Expertise and Technology of Production of

Pipes and Products from Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals and Alloys
- Interregional scientific and engineering center of substantiation of requirements
to quality of pipes, cylinders and other metal products and maintenance of their
regulatory documentation

- Laboratory of metrology and quality control of metal products

NAAU has been an accredited NAAU for more than 10 years, one of the largest
research and engineering centers in Ukraine in the field of testing pipes, cylinders,
billets, pipes and forgings, rolled metal, industrial metal products, polymer
products, and other metal products and materials chemical composition, long-term
strength and creep, mechanical, technological, metallographic, corrosion
performance, surface quality, tightness and strength under internal pressure, as well
as the continuity of the metal by non-destructive testing methods.

NDTI heads two technical committees of Ukraine for standardization, namely: TC

81 "Standardization of methods of control of mechanical, metallographic and
corrosion tests of metal products" and TC 8 "Steel pipes and cylinders", as well as
the interstate technical subcommittee on standardization (IPC2). Seamless Pipes
”as well as Subcommittee (IPC2)“ Seamless Pipes ”in the Interstate Technical
Committee of ITC 7“ Steel and Cast Iron Pipes and Cylinders ”.
