Unit Week Assessments in the content area of Mathematics
Unit Week Date of Content Taught: November 19-23rd
Content: Math
Pre-Assessment Knowledge
In the week prior to UNIT week, the students mastered small multiplication
equations with 80% accuracy and demonstrated understanding of addition and subtraction with
regrouping through whole group and small group work as well as in-class individual work and
assignments and practice. The general education teachers class participated in the completion of
two units that laid the ground work of the aforementioned concepts. In each area, 19 out of 25
students and then 20/25 students achieved a score of 75% or more on the Math Summative
Assessments given. This was proof that the students were ready to move on to the next step so
that they could take these new concepts a step further- so for my unit I took on the responsibility
of introducing Word Problems.
Child 1 is an IEP student who struggles severely in reading and reading comprehension.
He excels in math and does not need extra supports for addition with regrouping, subtraction
with regrouping or even short multiplication problems. He was able to achieve a 90% on his last
summative assessment and was able to answer 6 out of 8 of the pre-assessment questions given
as an exit slip, correctly during the last math session. Child 2 is not an IEP student, but he is a bit
younger than his fellow peers and is low in math according to his prior assessments. He did not
do very well on his last summative assessment at the end of last math class and he answered only
3 of the 8 questions given on the exit slip at the end of last session.
I did not develop the pre-assessment before my UNIT week because the teachers already
had their planning done in advance. My mentor teachers always assess their students at the end
of teaching a specific concept/concepts and because they share their lesson plans with me each
week and allow me to coteach with them daily, I was able to prepare and take notes/collect data
on their end of unit assessments.
3 Formative Assessments- Math (2 days)
My first formative assessment for Day 1 will be at the end of class. Students will fill out a google
form at the end of class that will assess their understanding of what they truly learned about how
to solve a word problem.
Google Form Exit Slip How to Solve Word Problems
Teacher’s will receive the students’ scores the moment that they submit their work to
google classroom.
My second formative assessment for Day 2 will be the small-group work. Each teacher will be
assigned a google slide presentation to do with their ability group.

Teachers will follow a checklist to ensure that students are understanding the content:

The students will complete their final exit slip.
