MARKET NEWS LETTER

October 2018

For many reasons October turned out to be an “interesting” month, leading to

unforeseen market changes in our industry. The most important one may have been the
U.S. imposition of a number of duties on certain CHINESE AROMATIC CHEMICALS
which possibly may be felt for quite some time in the market. Adverse weather
conditions effected essential oils production in Indonesia and Australia. Currency
fluctuations in some producing countries were mentioned by shippers as reasons for
price adjustments.

ALBANIAN ESSENTIAL OILS

No market changes were reported during the month

AMERICAN ESSENTIAL OILS

No market changes were reported during the month for MINT OILS. While we remain
without offers for FLORIDA MID-SEASON ORANGE OILS, FLORIDA VALENCIA
ORANGE OIL has been on offer around $9.25/kilo FOB.

ARGENTINE ESSENTIAL OILS

No market changes were reported during the month

BRAZILIAN ESSENTIAL OILS

While the Brazilian 2017/2018 CITRUS CROP PRODUCTION FORECAST remains

unchanged, the reluctance of potential buyers around the world to cover their needs at
this time – has led to significant price reductions for ORANGE OIL and CITRUS
TERPENES – produced mainly by secondary producers, irrespective of the poor 2018
/ 2019 ORANGE crop forecast. It is not possible to predict when the current price
picture will change again for ORANGE OIL, as well as BY-PRODUCTS, such as
ORANGE TERPENES (FOOD GRADE) and CITRUS TERPENES (D’LIMONENE).
TAHITI LIME OIL is still available below US$30.00/kilo CFR world ports.
EUCALYPTUS CITRIODORA OIL 75% continues to be offered at US$16.00/kilo CIF
world ports.

BULGARIAN ESSENTIAL OIL

Small quantities of LAVENDER OIL are still available, at firm prices. CONVENTIONAL
LAVENDER OIL is currently quoted at €139.00/kilo, ORGANIC LAVENDER OIL at
EURO139.00/kilo. GERMAN and ROMAN CONVENTIONAL and ORGANIC
CHAMOMILE are on offer, as well as MELISSA OFFICINALIS CONVENTIONAL and
ORGANIC OIL. CONVENTIONAL and ORGANIC ORIUGANUM OIL are offered, as
well as CONVENTIONAL ROSA DAMASCENA OIL
At €6,699.00/kilo - - - all offered “ex store”

CHINESE ESSENTIAL OILS AND AROMATIC CHEMICALS

The availability of a number of ESSENTIAL OILS has improved for CITRONELLA and
EUCALYPTUS OIL, although pricing has improved only marginally, to date. To date the
supply situation of a number of AROMATIC CHEMICALS has not been resolved and
the imposition of U.S. duties is changing the market picture.

For a number of products traditional suppliers are still requiring specific inquiries before
making an offer, or, as in the case of SYNTHETIC CAMPHOR USP advise potential
buyers of the unavailability of the product. CITRONELLA OIL is still in short supply–
currently quoted in the US$27.60/kilo CIF world ports range. Limited quantities of
EUCALYPTUS OIL 80% have been offered at US$24.20/kilo CIF (in FCL quantities)...
The EUCALYPTOL 99.5% supply situation has eased. The product is currently on offer
in FCL quantities, at US$32.00/kilo CIF world ports. Limited quantities of WHITE
CAMPHOR OIL have traded at US$13.55 kilo CIF. GARLIC OIL is offered at
US$140.00/kilo CIF, GINGER OIL is available at US$76.00/kilo CIF. Long lasting rains
damaged the GERANIUM crop and prices continue to firm and have risen to as high as
US$260.00/kilo CIF world ports. LITSEA CUBEBA OIL has been quoted at
US$31.00/kilo CIF, STAR ANISEED at US$17.80kilo CIF. LINALOOL NATURAL is
currently on the market at US$27.40/kilo CIF. Small lots of VALERIAN OIL are still
offered at US$694.00 kilo CIF via air,

GUATEMALAN ESSENTIAL OILS

With the current CARDAMOM OIL production short, with only limited parcels offered.
Prices continue to firm

INDIAN ESSENTIAL OILS AND AROMATIC CHEMICALS

LEMONGRASS OIL is offered at US$22.50 – 28.50/kilo CFR, depending on quality.

PALMAROSA US$49.00 - 52.00/kilo CFR. Availability of both oils is limited and pricing
remains firm. Limited availability of HIMALAYAN CEDARWOOD OIL continue to reflect
in firm prices around US$12.00-13.00/kilo FOB. While new crop plantings have been
curtailed, old crop excess stocks of DAVANA OIL is still reflected in weak prices,

ranging from US$250.00 to US$300.00 kilo FOB, depending on DAVANONE content.

Limited availability of NUTMEG OIL INDIAN is reflected in firm pricing around
US$42.00/kilo FOB. MENTHA ARVENSIS OIL remains firmly priced. One of our
traditional suppliers advised us that they are increasing their production of ORGANIC
MENTHA PIPERITA OIL as well as ORGANIC BASIL OIL. Please contact us for
specific offers should you have interest in the one or other oil. Specially priced
METHYL CHAVICOL has been on offer at US$11.40/kilo, NATURAL ESTRAGOLE
98% at US$11.50/KILO CIF world ports. With CHINESE PRODUCERS / EXPORTERS
encountering the U.S. imposed duty problem, a number of AROMATIC CHEMICALS
are offered by Indian producers in the world market – competitively – such as
ALDEHYDE C-16, METHYL SALICILATE, SALICYLIC ACID, OCTYL SALICYLATE,

INDONESIAN ESSENTIAL OILS

Traditional suppliers advise us that the rainy season has started. Meanwhile, some
prices have eased and, subj. prior sale, we have been quoted CLOVE STEM OIL 90%
at US$21.00/kilo, CLOVE BUD OIL at US$28.00/kilo CFR world port. Other prices, as
quoted last month, have remained unchanged, such as CLOVELEAF REDISTILLED
85% at US$22.50/kilo, EUGENOL USP at US$28.00/kilo, ISO EUGENOL at US$37.00
kilo, CITRONELLA OIL at US$27.50/kilo , CANANGA at US$128.00/kilo PATCHOULI
(MD QUALITY) at US$45.00/.kilo CFR basis.

MOROCCAN ESSENTIAL OILS

Markets remained unchanged. Nominally, in ton lots ARGAN OIL is currently offered at
US$31.30/kilo CFR, ROSEMARY OIL at US$56.80/kilo CFR world ports

TUNISIAN ESSENTIAL OILS

No market changes were observed during October

VIETNAMESE ESSENTIAL OILS and AROMATIC CHEMICALS

No market changes were observed during September. Traditional suppliers continue

offering CASSIA, BASIL , small quantities of CITRONELLA AND TAMANU OIL, as well
as CINNAMIC ALDEHYDE, COUMARIN, CINNAMYL ALDEHYDE and
BENZALDEHYDE (EU).
