Career Research Paper

Over the past 100 yrs. veterinary medicine has had a big change in the world. It all started

in the 1900s, when people began to use horses for traveling on dirt roads and for crop

preparations. It also dates to the 9,000 BC in the middle east, where they the basic medical skills

that they had to help treat animal like dogs, cats, cattle or horses. Veterinary medicine became

more popular back then from farms getting more land. So, the farms that had crops would buy

more horses so they could help them in tending the soil. During that time some of the farmers

would have barn cats or herd dogs to round up the sheep. In 1,900 BC there was a discovery of

an ancient Hindu text telling more about veterinary medicine that they never knew before. This

was very important to them because it revealed new concepts about how to help animals more in

depth. Some of the Hindu texts that they discovered were mixed with veterinary medicine and

human medicine.

Veterinary Medicine is the field of study that deals with helping and promoting health

and welfare to the sweet little or big creatures that we have a loving for today. Being a

veterinarian will change your life for the better, either by making you socially interactive or

helping you in other ways. It will change you, I promise you. you might find new meaning why

people should have animals, or new reasoning why animals are so lovely to other people, or why

they just want affection and attention. This might open a whole new world you never knew

unless you give it a try. To me and me you it more then just “Oh this job has a good pay so I’m

going to take it, even though I really care about animals either.” See that not a good way to

pursued something, you want to go into its headfirst right? So that’s what going to give you

information on what it really is like to become a veterinarian and all the fields, study, care and

pay you get and must take.

There are so many reasons to why you should become a vet, even if you’re are a squish

person but you love animal you still should do something in the vet field. You might become a

veterinarian because you like being involved with animals, because it has interesting work or

because their salary is very high. All those reasons to go into to the field are good reason, even if

you’re just going for the pay. You’re still making a big change to the world today by healing and

helping animals get a home. In veterinarian services after you have graduated and got you

licensed. You have the choice to go into any specialists you want to go into, or you can go into

any certifications you want to go into. Some of the types of veterinary specialists you can go into

are pets, livestock (Where you work with the animals we consume), research and development

and many others specialties.

The specialty we are going to be talking about is called a large animal veterinarian, other

people also call them a livestock veterinarian. A large animal veterinarian is a specialty that

works with livestock animals like cows, pigs, sheeps, goats and horses. These types of

veterinarians play an important role in human life today. “Their patients might be animals but

keeping those creatures healthy ensures the resulting meat and milk is safe for people to

consume.” Said Cskopecce. Some of the large animal vet also have different jobs some of them

do research to control better diseases, and others might just work for the government. There are

many different specialties in large animal medicine.

Becoming a large animal vet is a good way to help people and animals together. During a

vet visit to a farm either to check on a cow or to do procedures they always try to teach some of

the farms how to a basic procedure. It would be a very little procedure that a farmer can do
Morgan 3

without any completions. Some of these produces may be, how to reposition an unborn calf or

therapies for a alleviate milk fever. By teaching them how to do small things like this makes it

much easier on us sense there are fewer livestock veterinarian around to help. In the livestock

veterinarian world, you will have to travel a lot to many different farmlands to check their

animals. If you like traveling this would be a perfect job but if you don’t like traveling you could

always open a large animal clinic or hospital where they must come to you instead. Or you can

have it were you can do both, if they live a far distant you can have it to were, they can drive to

there.

In this career there are qualities just like any other career. Those qualities can be

something that your good at or something that you might lack off in. The qualities you need for

this job is compassion for animals, manual dexterity and being able to make good decision fast.

Having these quality skills is great for any job, just by having compassion your showing that you

have love for something you are doing, in this case your passion might be for animals. Also

having manual dexterity and being able to make good decision is another great skill to have. By

you having that skill mean that you can lead and make the best decision for the team in stressful

moments. You also might have very good hand coronation which is very useful when you are

handling medical instruments. All of those are good qualities to have but, in this career,, you also

need to know how to do the basic stuff. Like how to preform health exams, give vaccinations,

draw blood and other major things to know. You will need to know this so you can get

information about what could be making them feel this way. Also, it is another way to help you

make a clear diagnostic for them.

The way to be come a livestock veterinarian is during your high school years you may

want to take classes like Zoology, Anatomy, Biology and maybe animal behavior classes if your
Morgan 3

school teaches theses classes. During your time it may be helpful to volunteer at an animal

century or an animal shelter to get more involved with different types of animals. This will really

help you out in the long run. Once you graduate high school get your bachelor’s degree in

science at a four-year college or technical college. After college go to a veterinary school and get

you Doctoral veterinary medicine degree. When you get your degree, you can take the state

veterinary test and get your licensed. This might seem like hard work and everything but trust me

you have this in the bag, you can be done with this by the time you turn 30. There’s no extra

stuff you must do after you pass your exam you can simple go get the job in your field.

In this field you will get to make some good money, this is a high paying field. On your

pay should be making about 90,470 that a lot for a veterinary to make. But “In 2018 the US

Bureau of Labor Statistic (BLS) reported that veterinarian made an average salary of 93,830.”

Said a writer at college consensus

You can also make to more then that to it just depends on what field you are in. Making that

much is great especially for the hour that you would have to work. The hours a livestock vet

usually works 50 hours or less that a lot of hours every week. But its worth it because your get to

spend time with animals a lot and helping them.

With all this working and everything going on I think its time for a vocational break to

clear are head. Working as a vet is going to be hard sometimes it is best to take a breather,

relaxion time either for a day or almost a week. You will still get payed for your hour depending

on your where you work at and if they do salary while on vacation. In veterinary medicine you

will use both your mind and your hands. Either to check to see if a mare (girl Horse) is pregnant

or your preforming surgery by using medical tools. If you get ever get tire of doing the same

thing or want to go into retirement but still want to work with animals and teach people, your

lessons. You can advance your career to where you’re an instructor at a college, medical scientist

or an agriculture food scientist. You might have to go back to school for some of them, but it is a

easy chill job that you an upgrade to.

If you don’t have an interested in animals, then this is the wrong place for you. But you

can still give it a read it might change your mind at the end. This is to all the reader that have or

seek a passion of being a livestock veterinarian that loves a challenge in your life to help other

animals. Then you have came to the right places to learn all the information about it. This may ot

be for every one and that’s fine as long as your willing to become whatever you want to be the

follow your dreams.
