PE Philosophy

I believe that students should have the knowledge to be physically active and learn how

to live a healthy lifestyle for the rest of their lives . That is what I will instill on my students. I

will prepare my students to be fit and active throughout their lifetime. I will teach them healthy

habits and ways to stay healthy and active all of their life. I will use the command teaching style

to teach my students. We will use sequential progressions to complete a task. I think that this will

make it easier for the students to learn a still if it has been broken down into easier steps rather

than having to complete the task all at once. I think the students will have more success if they

learn each step individually and then put it all together at the end. This method will contribute to

my goal for the students by making sure students learn and understand why they are doing what

they are. I want my students to learn and have as much knowledge as possible about physical

education before they are finished in the program.

I will know that my goals for the students are being met through psychomotor and

cognitive assessments. I will pre and post-test my students using the fitnessgram test so that

students can see their progress throughout each year. I will assess the psychomotor aspect to see

what the students are able to do and what they still need work on. This will also allow me to

know how to focus my lessons around where they need more practice with. By assessing the

students cognitive learning, I will be able to know what they know about rules or strategies

dealing with our lesson focus. In my teaching area, everyone will be treated equally. There will

be a zero-tolerance policy for students treated others badly for any reason, including race,

gender, social class etc. The gymnasium will be a safe space for all students, and I want each and
every one student to feel comfortable when they are in the gym. I want all students to learn how

to live a healthy and active lifestyle.
