Present Simple- spelling rules

My mother cooks every morning.

My cat sleeps in the afternoon.

My brother studies Chinese.

My father watches sport.

My dogs plays in the garden every morning.

he/she/ it +VERB+ -s/-es

I. We use –es for the verbs that end in:

1. –ch: watches, teaches

2. –sh: washes, brushes

3- -ss: passes, misses

4. – o: does, goes

5. –x: mixes, fixes

II. Verbs that end in a consonant+ -y=ies
