Pattern:

1. Wrap a card (e.g. credit

card) approx. 70 times. The
70 wraps do not fit on the
card all at once - so e.g. 40
+ 30 wraps are made.
2. Cut the wraps at the edge
of the card.

3. Cut an approximately 20
cm long thread of the same
yarn, put it through the hole
of the end cap and knot it
twice. It forms the "feather
quill".

4. Now place one of the short

threads in the middle of the loop
and push it under the "quill",
the loop is on the left (beige
thread).
Place a second thread in the
middle of the loop on the quill,
the loop is on the right side
(sand-coloured thread). In the
photo the two loops were placed
underneath each other in order
to show the process more
clearly. The two thread loops
must lie directly on top of each
other, the "feather quill" lies
between them.
5. Push the open ends through
the loops.

6. Hold the open ends to the left

and right, pull the knot together
and push it all the way to the
top.
Pull the knot again extremely
tight.

7. Knot the second pair of

threads in the opposite
direction: the loop that lies
under the quill is now on the
right, the loop that lies on the
quill is to be placed on the left.
8. The knots must always be
pulled very tightly and the
thread pairs must be pushed
upwards as far as possible so
that there are no gaps along the
"feather quill".

Pay attention to the position of

the thread pairs: if the last
visible knot is located
left,
the following loop under the quill
must be on the
right side.

9. Push all thread pairs / knots up

again as firmly as possible. Then
secure the two threads of the
"feather quill" at the lower end with
a tight double knot.

10. Coat the "quill" on the back

with textile glue. Make sure that
the glue is only applied to the
knots, not to the threads!
Let it to dry.
11. If the yarn is coarse, it is
sufficient to carefully comb out
the threads. With this relatively
fine yarn I recommend to
unscrew the 4 thin threads, from
which a cotton thread is twisted,
before combing. To do this, use
a tail comb, toothpick or
something similar to pierce the
thread directly on the "quill
feather" and remove the 4 thin
threads individually from the
other 3 threads.

12. Now carefully comb out the

unravelled threads several times
to the side and downwards.

13. Don't comb too

aggressively! A little waste
cannot be avoided, but never
comb too much cotton from the
feather. It should remain fluffy!
14. The feather now only needs
to be cut into shape. After the
first cut, carefully spread it out
on the front as well as on the
back side and shorten any
overhangs.

Your feather is ready now and can be glued to the mochila cord.
