BACKGROUND
The opportunity to serve as an intern at South County Hospital arose when I contacted the
volunteer and internship director in February 2020. I expressed my interest for the hospital and
interviewed with a professional working in the cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation clinic and
attended a volunteer information session in March 2020. I was fortunate enough to be offered in
an internship during the summer, however due to the impact of COVID-19 all internships were
suspended until further notice. It was not until late August that I received the email that they
were accepting interns for the Fall 2020 semester and that I was awarded the opportunity.
