1. What are the debit cards that RHB offers?

RHB Debit Card – RM12 annual fee With 0.5% cashback for overseas spend

2. What is a debit card?


 It works just like an ATM Card and Payment Card.
 It can be used to withdraw cash via any ATM’s worldwide and can be used to make purchases
at any retail outlets, restaurants and petrol stations and at any Visa / MasterCard / MyDebit
accepted merchants.
 When the RHB Debit Card is used, funds are automatically deducted from customer’s Current
or Savings Account that is linked to the card.

3. Who is eligible for a RHB Debit Card?


 Any individual who is 12 years and above and has RHB Bank Current or Savings account is
eligible (except for RHB Junior Account & MaxCa$h Account).
 If the individual is between the ages of 12 to 18 years old, the parents or the guardian are
required to sign the Indemnity form.

4. How do I get a RHB Debit Card?


 Visit a RHB / RHB Islamic branch nearest to you;

 Fill up RHB Services Form (SVSFORM).


 Provide the NRIC or Passport.
 If the individual is between the ages of 12 to 18 years old, the parents or the guardian are
required to sign the Indemnity form.

 The following Current and Savings account cannot be linked to a RHB Debit Card
 RHB Junior Account
 MaxCa$h Account

5. Can I use my debit card for overseas or card not present (online/e-commerce,
recurring, mail order, telephone order) transaction?
 Yes but you must first opt-in first for these transactions.
 All debit cards are automatically blocked for any overseas or card not present transaction
unless customer has opted in for this.
 Customer can opt in for these transactions via
 Any RHB ATM’s; or
 Walking into any RHB Branches; or
 Calling our RHB Customer Care Centre
 This will take effect the next day.

6. What is contactless feature and can all cards use this function?
 Contactless feature allows you to make contactless payments by simply tapping your debit
card at the point of sale terminal to pay for items up to RM250. For payment above RM250, a
PIN will be required.
 Your new Chip & Pin debit card has the contactless function as shown below (in red)

 The Retailer or Merchant's Point of Sales terminals must be able to accept Visa or
MasterCard® or MyDebit contactless payment.
 Your RHB Debit Card has to be waved within 4cm or tapped at the contactless card reader
and the Merchant must have first entered the transaction amount for you to approve.
 Even if your RHB Debit Card is accidentally tapped more than once, you will only get billed
once for the transaction.
 If you hold your card up to a reader and you have any other contactless payment cards
nearby, the reader might detect more than one card and will not complete the payment. You
will need to perform the transaction again. Please ensure you only use the intended card from
your wallet and have it tapped at the reader.

7. Can I choose to disable the contactless feature on my debit card?


Yes you can.

8. If I choose to change my Savings or Current account linked to RHB Debit Card, what
should I do?
 You have to go to the branch where you applied for the RHB Debit Card.
 Fill up the RHB Services form and indicate your intended account number in the account link
column.

9. Where can I use my RHB Debit Card?


 You can use your RHB Debit Card to pay for any retail transactions at any Merchants, which
accepts either Mydebit (in Malaysia only), Visa or MasterCard worldwide (locally or overseas)
 You can pay for any retail transactions via signature or using your 6 digit Pin.
 Starting 1st July 2017, all transactions via the merchant terminals in Malaysia will no longer
accept signatures. All transactions will be via a 6 digit PIN using the Chip & Pin technology.
 For ATM transaction, you can use it at any ATM machine that displays the MEPS or
MasterCard or Visa or PLUS or Cirrus or Maestro logo overseas. You are required to key in
your PIN for security verification.
 For overseas or online transaction, you are to opt in first for these as per item 5.

10. What are the benefits of having RHB Debit Card?


 Convenience to pay for goods or services worldwide at various merchant outlets that carry the
Mydebit or Visa or MasterCard logo.
 Cash withdrawal transactions from ATMs subject to availability of funds in the designated
Current or Savings Account and customer’s daily withdrawal limit.
 Cardholders of the RHB Debit Card – RM12 will enjoy 0.5% cashback on any OVERSEAS
retail spend and the cashback will be credited into the designated Current or Savings account
on a monthly basis.
 Continue to enjoy the prevailing interest rate on the Savings Account or any interest bearing
account.
 Manage / keep track of your account and transactions via RHB Now (Online Banking at www.
rhbgroup.com.my)

 ATM daily transaction limit and Debit Card spending daily limit for minors aged 12 - below 18
years is defaulted to RM200.

12. Are the limits on spending limit via Visa/MasterCard, ATM & MyDebit combined?
 The limit is only combined for ATM and MyDebit.

14. How long does it take to apply & get a RHB Debit Card?
 You can get your debit card immediately when you apply at any RHB Branches.
 As for the PIN, you are to key a temporary PIN into the PIN Pad of which you are to change
the temporary PIN at the any RHB ATM immediately once you have gotten your card.

15. What should I do if I forget my RHB Debit Card PIN?


 The RHB Debit Card will need to be replaced should you require a new Pin.
 You can contact our Call Centre at 03-9206 8118 or visit our nearest RHB branch for
assistance.

16. What if my Current or Savings Account is opened jointly (has two or more
signatories)??
 Only joint account-holders for Current or Savings account with condition on operations of
account stated as “either one to sign” can apply for RHB Debit Card.
 Joint account holders need to apply for separate RHB Debit Card (e.g. two applications for two
joint account holders).
 Both cards will be charged an Annual fee of RM12.72* or RM8.48* each (depending of the
debit card issued)
 For joint account, only applicable up to a maximum of 2 accountholders.

17. What is the spending limit on the RHB Debit Card if there are two or more signatories?
 Each cardholder determines the spending limit, which is subject to amount available in the
account and it allows you to have separate PIN.
 For withdrawal at ATM, each cardholder determines the withdrawal limit subject to amount
available in the account and separate PINs are allowed.
 Please refer to question 11 on the daily retail spending and withdrawal at ATM limits.

18. How do I make my PIN secure?


 Avoid any unsuitable PIN e.g.
 Birth dates, months or year or passport number or driving license in any form or
combination;
 Sequential numbers or easily identifiable number combination e.g. 123456 or 111111;
 Any of the block numbers on your debit card;
 Other easy ones such as telephone number or identity card numbers

19. What should I do if my RHB Debit Card is lost or stolen?


 Notify our Call Centre at 03-92068118 immediately to block your Debit Card.
 A replacement card will be issued to you at your request and the replacement card fee of
RM15.00 / RM12.00 / RM18.00 will be charged to your Current or Savings Account.

20. What is MyDebit?


 Your RHB Debit Card supports
 MyDebit which is only applied in Malaysia:-
 Visa/MasterCard which allows your debit card to be accepted both in Malaysia and
overseas.
 When using your RHB Debit Card in Malaysia, the retailer may choose to accept & process
the payment using either MyDebit or Visa or MasterCard.
 This is in line with the policy objective of Payment Card Reform Framework issued by Bank
Negara Malaysia to promote payment system efficiency by providing retailers with an avenue
to manage their operational cost in using a less costly debit card network. This would reduce
the pressure on retailers to increase prices to their customers to recover the higher cost of
accepting payment cards.
 Please be advised that you are not able to request the retailer to change their chosen debit
card network.

21. Under what circumstances that holding of funds transactions are done to my Current or
Savings Account?
 Once you have used your debit card for any retail transactions, your Current or Savings
account will be on “hold” for the amount swiped.
 This “hold” will be released and your account will be debited for the amount once the Bank
receives the amount from the acquiring Bank.
 Average pre-authorization holding day is 30 days.

Petrol transaction at the pump (outdoor)


 Pre-authorization amount is RM200 but some petrol operators allow the cardholder to select
the amount at the pump.
 With the PIN & Pay concept at petrol stations, cardholders are to key in their 6 digit PIN at the
self-service pump.
 Pre-authorization amount will be charged to customer’s banking account during the fill-up.
 The pre-authorization amount will be reversed back and the actual filled-up amount will be
charged to customer’s bank account once the bank receives the actual filled up amount from
the acquiring bank. The turnaround time for this is usually 3 – 4 working days.
 To avoid pre-authorisation amount, customers are advised to go to the payment counter
located inside the petrol station.

Hotel
 The amount depends on the duration of stay whereby on check-in, pre-authorization amount
will be charged. During check-out, the pre-authorization amount will be reversed and the
actual amount will be charged.

22. What if my account balance is insufficient for annual fees charges?


 On the card issuance anniversary date, system will auto debit the account for the annual fee.
 If the account has insufficient fund for the annual fee, then system will re-try for 30 days to
debit but card will not be held.
 However, after the 30 days re-try and still insufficient fund, then on the 31st day, the card will
be on hold until customer comes to the branch to release the hold and bank in the fund into
the account.
 Once hold on card is released, system will debit the account that night itself (batch run).
23. Why is my purchase declined?
 This could be due to
 Insufficient funds in your savings/current account that is linked to the RHB Debit Card. You
will need to top up funds in your account.
 Insufficient funds due to pre-authorisation holding amount at petrol station. You will need to
top up funds in your account.
 Your purchase amount exceeds your chosen daily spending limit. You can opt to change
your spending limit either via RHB Now or by walking into any RHB Branch.
 The function to purchase online / overseas transaction may not have been activated yet.
Refer to item 5 on how to activate your debit card for this function.

24. What are the security features does RHB Debit Card have?
 SMS alerts are sent to your mobile phone at no extra cost to you to the registered mobile
phone number with the Bank whenever a purchase amount of at least RM500 is made on your
RHB Debit Card.
 One-Time Password (OTP) Authentication Code is sent via SMS to verify purchases made
online at participating 3D Secure merchants.
 Each contactless transaction includes a unique code that changes with each purchase, which
can only be used once and can only be generated by the chip in your original contactless
card, hence, this prevents a counterfeit card from being produced from the intercepted card
security details.

In addition to this, you are strongly encouraged to


 Check your transactions regularly via RHB Now. If you come across any suspicious
transactions in your account, please contact our RHB Customer Service.

Transactions via MyDebit can be viewed real time via ATM, Internet Banking or Mobile
Banking.

25. Can I use Easy Payment Plan (EPP) facility for purchases with my RHB Debit Card?
 No, the EPP is not applicable for Debit Card.
