The handle, when lying down in the recess in the rotary base, acts asa safety catch, thus avoiding accidental engoge - ment of disengogement. This holds the drill pipe when breaking a joint with the cathead. When the joint is broken, the rotary is rotated clockwise to complete unscrewing the jolr®. It tanot necessary to unlock the table, os any clock= wise rotation will automatically disengoge the lock. When the next Jolnt Is to be broken, the lock is again manually angoged. It will return to the une locked pasitfon when dellling operations ore started.
