State whether pars ae tobe shipped freight, express of parcel post, Claims for shortage of error any time. should be made immediately upon receipt of material LUBRICATION CAUTION _Be sure the rotary is property lubricated before starting operation. All working parts including gears, main bearing, nold-down bearing and both pinion shaft bearings are lubricated with a single ‘ilbath system, The reservoirs are filed and ‘gauged at the filer plug on top of the rotary table (SEE THE ILLUSTRATION, AT POINT 1). All get and foreign matter is collected ina sump (SEE ILLUSTRATION, AT POINT 2 & 53) from which itmay be removed periodically. For a new rotary or one which has boon toreughly rained, the filler plug is removed fand oll ig added until the “ful” mark is reached on the gauge stick. Therotaryis then rotated fora few minutes during which time the oll is circulated. Some oll will remain in ‘he main bearing and capsule. When the ‘olaty is stopped, the ol evel willshow below ‘the “full” mark on the gauge. An additional [amount is then added to ring the ail level up to the full mark ‘The oll should be checked daily. itis not avromanc wie. \ 49.5 ROTARY necessary to add ol a8 long a8 the level ae [AMBIENT TEMPERATURE necessary 10 add ol as lng 8 the la SRS | woncanr| oreo SFO nor Se hee EXXON | Gear Ol| GX 80 or | Gea Oil GX 90 or ‘Spartan EP 68 ‘Spartan EP 190 IMPORTANT: When gaging neo eva, GULF |Mui-Purpose aow-30 | "Multi-Purpose 20W-30 allow the machine to remain idle for LL ub. Remove the lower mud ring. (4 Bolts only. See Rotary Parts Drawing). Remove the elastic stop nuts which fasten the hold-down ring to the base. These nuts are located on the underside of the base. Lift the table away from the rotary base. It is best to lock the master bushing in the table and then placing the two bushing lifting handles in the bushing, asa means for attachment to a block and tackle. Place the table upside down on the floor. Remove the capscrews which hold the bearing support ring to the table and remove the support ring. Note shims. Remove lower race. Remove lower balls and ball spacer. Remove middle race. Remove upper balls and ball spacer. Remove hold down ring. ‘The upper race may be removed by driving wedges between the race and table in about three (3) places. Gently warm the race if necessary. REPLACING THE MAIN BEARING Reverse the procedure given above by installing upper race, hold down ring, upper ball and spacer, middle race, lower balls and spacer, lower race and bearing support ring Replace only about 4 capscrews in support ring. The main bearing assembly should be .002” to .006” loose. This can be adjusted by the shims between the table and the bearing support ring. Replace the remaining support ring bolts except those which hold the lower mud ring. Turn the table right side up in the base with the flat of the hold down ring at the pinion gear. CAPSULE ASSEMBLY REMOVING THE ROTARY SPROCKET 1. Remove the capscrews (A) which hold the sprocket to the hub. 2. Attach puller bolts othe sprocket hub (8). 3.Pullthe hub trom the shaft with @2-Ton jack. 4. Drive out he sprocket key. REPLACING THE OIL SEAL ‘The oil seal is located just inside the sprocket and cover plate. 1. Take out the capscrews () holding the cover plate tothe capsule, ‘and remove the cover plate (D). 2. Drive the oll seal (E)outotthe cover plate and drive in a new oll seal by tapping lightly around the periphery. DO NOT distort the new seal or smash it by too severe hammer blows. 3. When assembling the cover plate with now oil seal back into position, take care not to damage the sealing lipof the seal, REMOVING THE CAPSULE ‘Any other repairs to the capsule assembly will necessitate removing the capsule from the rotary base. 1. Remove the elastic stop nuts which hold the capsule to the ‘base. 2. The capsule can now be removed horizontally from the bore in the base, Ifthe capsule fits fight, it can be started out by ‘serewing in on the two Allen Head Jack Screws provided for this purpose on the flanged part of the capsule. REPLACEMENT OF THE CAPSULE BEARINGS. IDECO Rotaries havea straight roller bearing in the sprocket end of the capsule, A double tapered roller bearing is used on the pinion end, REMOVING THE PINION END BEARINGS 1. Remove the six hex head cap scrows which hold the pinion end cover plate to the capsule. 2, With the sprocket off the shaft, remove the shatt with pinion, cover plate, pinion end bearing from the capsule body. (The sprocket end bearing inner race which Is shrunk onto the shaft wll come out with the shaft). Press the pinion and pinion end bearing of the shat by fiting a piece of pipe ‘ver the shalt and against the inner race ofthe bearing, Then press. the shaft through both members. A press of approximately 25-ton ‘capacity will be required REPLACING THE PINION END BEARINGS ‘A Double Tapered bearing is used inthe pinion end, 1. Heat the bearing components to a temperature of 250°F ino or With steam in order to shrink them on the shalt. 2. Press the bearing up to the shoulder ofthe shaft REMOVING THE SPROCKET END BEARING ‘To remove this bearing, hecapsule must be removed trom the rotary base, and the pinion shaft must be removed from the capsule, as ‘mentioned earlier. The inner race of this bearing being shrunk on will come out with the shat, Thisinner race may be ut witha torch or driven oft 1. Remove the six hex head capscrews which hold the cover plate to the capsule on the sprocket end. 2. Drive the bearing with ts ‘outer race trom the capsule body, REPLACING THE SPROCKET END BEARING 1. Heat the bearing inner race to 200" to 250° Fwith steam orin a pot fotell. 2 Shrink the inner race on the pinion shat. tis tobe fitted well up against the shoulder of the shaft. 3. The outer race and bearing rollers can be driven into the capsule body with ight, even taps around the outer edge. Useablock of wood andalight hammer, Do not hammer directly on the outer race. ASSEMBLING THE CAPSULE Ater replacing the bearings, the shaft can be assembled, 1. Place the pinion end cover plate in position against the pinion bearing. 2. Replace the pinion key and press the pinion onto the shaft as faras possible. A press with approximately 25-ton capacity is required, 3. Insort the shaft assembly into the capsule. 4 Position pinion end cover plate so thatthe ol pockets ae horizontal and face up, in relation to the marked "TOP" ofthe capsule, Replace capscrews, tightenandwire. 5. Replacesprocketend cover plate to capsule body, replace capscrews, tignten and wire, ‘The capsule is now ready for assembly tothe rotary bese.
