2.1 BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE AMUSEMENT RIDE

The carousel has a round footprint with a pavement diameter of m 10,50 ( 34' 5" ).
It consists of two overlapped rotating floors, of 14 sectors each, onto which various figures (such
as horses, spinning tubs and chariots and benches) (pos.2, fig.2-1) are fixed.
The load bearing structure consist of a central column that is anchored to a basement crossing
structure by means of four struts. The rotating structure consist of two floors (pos.3, fig.2-1)
suspended from the ground by means of tie bars and steel frames, all anchored to the roof.
The roof structure is anchored to the rotors of the central pillar and consist of No.14 cantilevered
brackets radially arranged. The roof cover (pos.4, fig.2-1) may consist of fiberglass panels or PVC
canvas.
The floor structure consists of ties in tubular steel supporting the panels in varnished solid wood.
The two overlapped floors are connected through two opposite staircases (pos.3, fig.2-1).
Part of the carousel’s figures are mechanically operated by crankshafts which are fastened to the
roof structure, above the ceiling panels.
These figures are made-out of fiberglass and interior steel supporting structure, hand-brush
decorated and clear coated.
The carousel’s structure is covered by ornamental and decorative fiberglass panels (pos.5, fig.2-1),
and decorated and clear coated.
Lighting is fixed to the ornamental panels and consist of plastic cabochons and LEDs.

2.1.1 Operation principle and cycle

The ride can be operated both in both Manual and Automatic mode, and by one operator.
The rotating structure rotates by means of No.1 electric motor controlled by Frequency drive, and
on counter-clockwise direction only.
Some figures (horses and chariots) are automatically moved by crankshafts which are operated by
electric motors controlled by Frequency Drive. Some other figures are of “Rocking” type (horses)
and spinning type (Tubs), therefore manually operated by the passengers.
When the operating cycle is over and the ride consequently stops, the figures moved by
crankshafts also stops and the spinning-tubs are stopped through the related electric brakes. The
spinning-tubs are also equipped with one over-speed detector each to limit the rotation in case of
misbehaving passengers.
When operated in Automatic mode, the ride automatically stops when the pre-set time is over,
approximately on the same position the cycle was started.
Rotation speed can be adjusted by the Supervisor up to the maximum pre-set value of 4.5 RPM.
The operator may assist the passengers during loading and unloading procedure in order to make
sure all passengers are properly seated and children are secured with seat-belts.

2.2.7 Emissions

2.2.7.1 NOISE

The amusement ride has been designed and manufactured in order to reduce as much as possible
and within the permissible limits the level of acoustic pressure (below 80 dB(A)).
Please keep in mind in case the personal exposure level (PEL) exceeds 80 dB(A) the operators
shall put on :
- personal protection equipment (such as ear plugs or similar);
- or sound-proof screens.
Any anomalous noises can show the onset of mechanical or electrical problems (such as chain or
belt loosening...).
If the fault persist, contact the Manufacturer or the authorised service centre for advice.

2.2.7.2 VIBRATIONS

The amusement ride, in normal working conditions, does not transmit vibrations affecting its
stability, damaging the bearing surfaces and the precision of equipment placed nearby.
Any anomalous vibrations can be an indication of the onset of mechanical or electrical problems
(e.g. flanges, chains, belts loosening, etc...). Please refer to chapter 6 “Maintenance” for any
instruction suitable for removing these faults.
If these phenomena continue ask the Manufacturer or an authorised service centre for advice.

2.2.8 Lighting

AMBIENT LIGHTING
Lighting shall be provided in order to have a sufficient natural light on daytime and artificial lighting
fit for preserving safety and health.
Lighting shall comply with the local law in force in the location of use of the carousel, and it shall :
- be uniform and assure a good visibility in every area of the amusement ride,
- not create dangerous glints, shades, dazzling, etc ... ,
- allow to read clearly the control panel and to find the emergency stop buttons.
Lighting shall allow the maintenance foreseen in this manual to be carried out safely.
For operations in particular areas (such as maintenance inside the amusement ride or inside the
control cabinet) it may be necessary to use local lighting fittings.
Local lighting fittings shall not be sources of danger.

LIGHTING ON BOARD OF THE AMUSEMENT RIDE

This amusement ride is equipped with following lighting for decorative and visual effects purposes
only:
- Clear plastic cabochons with LED light (on scenery and figures);
