Career choice

Career is a very important thing in one’s life. Whatever career path you choose to follow, it will
impact your life greatly. Your career will define your status in a society in addition to your lifestyle. In
other words, your career will determine your social circle and relationships.

Therefore, it is extremely important to choose the correct career path which for me is software
engineering. From a very young age, we aspire to be something. While some aim to be doctors,
some wish to become painters. Our career choices depend on a lot of things. Thus, it is important to
consider all factors before choosing a career path.

Why is it important that you make your own career choice rather than have a parent or someone
else make it for you? I believe choosing a career is one of the most important decisions anyone will
make in life. It is very important that I make my own career choice rather than have a parent or
someone else make it for me. The career choice I make has a large influence in my life. Also, I will be
the one who will spend eight hours a day and five days a week doing the work.

I know myself more than a parent or someone else, likewise, I know my talents, abilities, and
interest more than anyone else. A career that someone else may think is good for me may not be
suitable with my personality or strengths therefore I know a technology based career such as
software engineering suits me more than anything else.

What is software engineering? Software engineering is a branch of computer science which includes
the development and building of computer systems software and applications software. Software
engineers are computer science professionals who use their extensive knowledge of programming
languages, software development, and computer operating systems to build software products,
develop computer games, and run network control systems. Anytime you visit a webpage or use an
internet-powered application, you’re engaging with the end result of a software engineer’s work and
with billions of physical devices around the world that are now connected to the internet and that
are collecting and sharing data, all industries are quickly becoming technology driven industries.

Life has become all the more complex and competitive. There is a keen struggle and competition in
the world of careers and professions. And only the fittest will survive. After finishing their school and
college education or training, young students are baffled as to which profession to choose, often
finding themselves groping in the dark. The tough competition and not to mention the corruption
further increase the difficulties we face. A young man or woman may possess sufficient training,
education, orientation and aptitude for a particular job or position and yet he or she may not get it
because of various problems.

Most of the young men and women in search of suitable jobs are a confused, indecisive and
frustrated lot. It has generated a deep sense of frustration and indiscipline among young people.
There is cut-throat competition and the world is constantly progressing and for this exact reason we
should be able to adjust ourselves to the ever-changing world we live in.
