When it comes to excellence in training, the slightest details make all the

difference. Something as minor as turning up the toes on a certain move,

landing
so your hips are above your knees, where your hands are positioned—all of
those little details that most people don’t pay attention to are carefully built
into
this program so you can keep the pressure and impact where they’re
supposed to
be. Remember, when I designed this program for Michael, he was already
the
best, and he was training to become better. You don’t get there by doing
sloppy
work or doing the same work as everyone else, you get there by paying
attention
to every detail. That’s also how you increase longevity, building your body
and
skills to stay strong and healthy. We’re not training you to have one great
season
or one great game; this is training for a lifetime of greatness.
CHAPTER 4
RULES FOR RELENTLESS
TRAINING
Everyone wants to know the secrets.
What’s the secret to jumping higher?
What’s the secret to putting on muscle?
What’s the secret to faster recovery?
What’s the secret to being the best?
No question, the Jump Attack program reveals the answers to a lot of those
“secrets.” If you’re reading this book, you already know the secret isn’t
about
taking shortcuts or sticking to the same old routines that didn’t work
before.
Athletic success is the result of knowing what to do, the willingness to do
it, and
the drive to continually improve at it. I don’t care how much natural ability
you
have, if you don’t use it correctly and constantly work to elevate your
talent into
actual skill, you cannot and will not improve or succeed. All the “secrets”
in the
universe can’t help you if you’re not willing to push yourself harder than
ever
before, and trust that this workout will take you where you want to be.
But there’s one more part to the formula, and you can’t succeed without it.
You want to know the #1 secret for success in sports, or in anything you
do?
Mental toughness.
The truth: 90 percent of what you do physically is controlled by what you
do
mentally. Your mind tells the body what to do, not the other way around.
Decide. Commit. Act. Succeed. Repeat. In that order. The first two steps
start in
your mind, the rest turn into physical results.
