Conjunctions and / but

Conjunções são usadas para conectar duas frases em uma longa sentença:
 I play tennis and I swim. (Eu jogo e nado)
 Ana loves oranges, but she hates pears. (Ana ama laranjas, mas odeia peras)

1 – AND (Conjunção adicional)


"and" é usado para adicionar itens a uma lista, ideias:
 She bought apples and bananas. (Ela comprou maçãs e bananas)

2 – BUT (Conjunção adversativa)


"but" é usado para mostrar contraste, ideias opostas:
 I speak French, but I’ve never been to France. (Eu falo francês, mas nunca estive na França)

 On Saturdays, we usually visit the zoo and on Sundays, we go to the park. (Aos sábados,
costumamos visitar o zoológico e aos domingos, vamos ao parque.)
 I bought a skirt, some shoes and a jacket. (Comprei uma saia, uns sapatos e uma jaqueta.)

 I’d like to go, but I don’t have any money. (Eu gostaria de ir, mas não tenho dinheiro.)
 Tom ran, but he missed the bus. (Tom correu, mas perdeu o ônibus.)
