This IEP meeting was the students annual IEP review. COVID-19 delayed the original

meeting in April where the parent elected to have the meeting pushed to the Fall. This time

around the student or the parent were not present in the meeting. Many attempts to contact the

parent were made but there was never a response. However, the meeting must go on and still

needed to be held. The people who were present in the meeting, was the IEP coordinator, case

manager, and the students general education teachers. Since we are still in the COVID protocols

the IEP meeting was held over zoom as opposed to in person.

The meeting started off with the IEP coordinator asking everyone to introduce themselves

and their relation to the student. After everyone introduced themselves, each teacher gave a

description of what the student is like in class, how they are doing in the class and any concerns

that they have about the student. Each teacher expressed that the student has difficulty turning

assignments in on time and has trouble with test taking. We have this student in resource room so

it was discussed that we would work with the student more closely and provide more structure to

them in the classroom. It was determined that the student will receive extensions on some

assignments and will be allowed to use their notes on tests.

As a future special educator, I will make every possible attempt to have the parent in their

child's IEP meeting. Having parent feedback is essential to the students learning and progress. I

will also come prepared with examples of the students' work and how they are in the classroom.

To conclude the meeting, the IEP coordinator asked if there was anything else that anyone would

like to share or express. When there was nothing else to say the coordinator thanked everyone for

coming and to start to implement the supports with the student.
