QUESTIONS
1. What communication problem did you find between the two parties?
2. Was the information given by the announcers correct? Justify your
answer.
3. List other similar situations you know of where this problem occurs.
4. What concludes from this situation?

ANSWER
1. They did not handle the same language terms, they identified words that sound
the same but their definition is different, and the interpretation shows it differently,
although they have flaws in how they hear the term and what it is believed to
mean.
Example
Cupula – copula

2. Both were right in their definition of each word, there are countries where the
words have another meaning, for example, in Colombia HUILA is a Department
and in Mexico it is a person of sexual life, they were clear for each of their
definitions, so one wanted to explain and the other to have fun.
3. When a foreigner who shares the same language but does not interpret the
meaning of the words in the same way, Mexicans and we have different words, the
name of Calentura, which is fever for Mexico, is desire in Colombia.
When someone from another department comes to ask for something to drink,
for example a soft drink, it is something cold in a glass and some of us see it as a
drink in a plastic bag.
In banking services, the ordinary term refers to regular hours, in everyday life is
someone who does something very ugly or frowned upon.

4. It is important to recognize that language can vary in its interpretations, the

important thing is to look for the context to which the words refer because this can
lead us to make mistakes or not know how to make ourselves understood or not
understand others.
