In the broadest sense, industry would mean designated production and service activities.

3.1 All types of manufacturing activities related to product production, processing, assembling and subsequent re-
adjustment and processing of manufactured products.

3.2 All service activities performed through significant use of equipment or fixed assets or intellectual property shall
be included in the service industry.

Cottage industry :A cottage industry is a small-scale, decentralized manufacturing business often operated out of a
home rather than a purpose-built facility. Total assets except land and factory building is less than 10 lac and members
must not more then 15.

Handicraft : 'handicrafts' refers to the extensive use of the artisan's artistic thinking and labor or the genius, skills and
techniques acquired through the training of the creative person and the use of modern technology to adjusts to the
variability of time.

Hi-tech Industry: Hi-tech industry means knowledge and capital based high technology based environment friendly and
IT / ITES / biotechnology or research and development (R&D) based industry.

Creative art :"Creative Industry" refers to all industries that assist in the production of aesthetic and creative products
using artistic thinking and innovative talents, skills and techniques, or modern technology, such as advertising,
architecture, art and antiques. , Design, Fashion Design, Film & Video, Interactive Laser Software, Music, Performing
Arts, Publishing, Software & Computer & Media Programs.

Reserved Industry: All industries which are required to be protected in the interest of national security. through
government directives and those industries which are reserved for government investment as sensitive and sensitive will
be identified as Reserved Industry.

High priority industry: High priority industries will be those industries which will create massive employment through
rapid growth of all industries and will be able to earn significant export earnings from this sector.

For the purpose of further development, this category of industry will be given priority in the availability of opportunities
and facilities of the government.

Priority industry : Priority Sector shall be defined as those industries which have the potential to contribute to the
overall export of the developing and growing industries. Which industries / industrial sub-sectors will be identified as
priority industries / sub-sectors will be declared by the Government from time to time.

Regulated industry To ensure maximum utilization of natural / mineral resources, to take appropriate decision and
action by the government to set up certain industries in the interest of the country …..and to set up such industries in
the private sector Approval / No Objection of the concerned Ministry / Commission (e.g. Ministry of Culture / Religion,
BTRC etc.) has to be accepted.

Women industrial entrepreneurs: If a woman is the proprietor or proprietor of a privately owned or privatized
organization, she is a woman who owns another (minimum) 51% (fifty one percent) of the directors or shareholders of a
private company registered in a partnership or joint stock company. Be considered as an entrepreneur.
