Acts 10:44-47

44. While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all
those who were listening to the message.

45 And those believers from the circumcision who had accompanied Peter
were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even
on the Gentiles,

46 for they heard them speaking in tongues and glorifying God. Then Peter
said,

47. "Surely, no one can withhold the water for these people to be baptized,
who have received the Holy Spirit as we also did.”

This passage is about a revival that took place in Caesarea in the house of
Cornelius.
While Peter was sharing the Word of God, the Holy Spirit came upon the
people who heard and believed God's Word.

Who was Cornelius?

A Roman Centurion - he had some qualifications of the Roman Empire to
become a centurion - he had some official authority and status in the
society.
But to begin a revival in his city, God has seen some good qualities in him.
In this revival, he was a Prospective Candidate.
God has considered him as a Prospective candidate for revival.
What qualified him to be a Prospective candidate for the revival.
In Acts 10:2-3, we see about this man.
- He was a devout Christian.
- A man who devoted or committed his life to worship and prayer.
- He was a worshiper of the truth and Spirit.
- as we know, Roman soldiers were worshippers of Mithraism, and they
were devotees of the emperor.
- He was a God-fearer together with all his household.
- He was a giver who was doing many charitable deeds for the people.
- He was a man of prayer, who was praying to God continually.

- God showed him a vision

- He saw a vision, an angel of God coming to him and saying to be
connected with Peter.

Application
Today, in our times, God is looking for someone like Cornelius to send His
revival fire upon us.
Let's become worshippers rather than lead others to worship, let's become
God-fearers and men and women of prayer.
Let's open our eyes and ears to see and listen to the voice of God.
Be ready for a fresh start to fulfill God's purposes in and through us.

Then we see, Peter had a vision while he was praying.

- a Complementary vision- it had a connection with the vision of Cornelius
– This vision connected Peter with Cornelius
- it was a matching revelation, and Peter had a revelation of God’s plan for
his people.
- in ordinary circumstances, a Jew does not like to visit Caesarea.
Although well known, this city would not feel culturally welcoming to a
Galilean or even the average Jerusalemite.

Why? Because, Josephus estimated that Syrians in Caesarea massacred

twenty thousand Jews in a single hour at that time.

In their usual context, it is not common that a Jew would go to the house
of a Cesarean.

The Possibility of revival - this revival took place because of the

connection.

God connected them - Cornelius and his vision, God, connected Peter to
him.

For this revival, God was looking for partners - God used the partnership
for his glory.

Application
In the ministry of God, God is always seeking partners.
The vision and voice of God will make a partnership.
We need partnership in mission, for church growth, and mission.
We need to pray for divine connections.
Let's pray and ask God to connect with people who have a divine vision.

After Peter entered the house of Cornelius, he was a different man.

The vision and the voice of God changed the perspectives of Peter.
God changed Peter’s perspective of revival – He aligned himself to God’s
perspective.
A change of perspective is required for a revival.
What did Peter preach?
Acts 10: 34 - He said: I understand that God is not one who shows
partiality.
- God does not show partiality – that means God knows and recognize
everyone for his mission.
• Peter preached about the ministry of Jesus as He gave deliverance from
demon and sickness.
• And Peter preached about the death and resurrection of Jesus and the
power of resurrection that the disciples have experienced.
• Then he said: Belief in Him - you will be delivered.
- When Peter said, God does not show partiality, then what is the
condition to receive the revival, believe and seek.

Application
In the ministry, we always have our perspectives.
Most of the time, our perspectives are based on our rationality, our ideas.
With our perspectives, when we attempt to see the situations, we will be
discouraged.
We need to pray and seek the perspective of God in every aspect of our
ministry.
Let's change our perspectives by trusting God and His voice in all our lives
and ministry areas.

While Peter was speaking - the Spirit of God fell upon people who received
the Word.
The Spirit of God was poured out on the - language of pouring from one
vessel to another.
They spoke in tongues - praising God - V 45
It was an attempt that broke the tradition of Jews - a non-Jew must be
circumcised to become a Jew
- Peter says who can stop them - the Spirit of God converted them.

Let us pray and ask God to guide us and change us to become prospective
candidates for the coming revival.
Let us pray for divine connections to see how God would create the
possibilities for revival.
Let us allow the Spirit of God to transform our perspectives to the
perspective of God. Amen!
