What is Web GIS?

Web GIS is a pattern, or

architectural approach, for
implementing a modern GIS.
It’s powered by web services—
standard services that deliver
data and capabilities, and
connect components. ArcGIS
Online is a main of the ArcGIS
Web GIS platform.

1
Why is Web GIS important?

Web GIS shares opportunities to provide

broader access to our authoritative GIS
data from any sectors we turned in. In case
of geotechnical engineering data, Web GIS
can provide maps that integrate a wide
array of data, enabling us to integrate
shapefiles, such as site investigation data,
soil moisture and slope stability, etc.

2
Introducing Web-GT

Web-GT is a proposed Web GIS-based

portal that provides information about
geotechnical engineering data (such as
catchment area, site investigation, slope
stability, etc.). The author will be able to
add and edit the data from his own
dashboard and share them to everyone
who get the access. The web app will be
made by ArcGIS Online.
