• The world child population static published by different reports

in 2000 shows that there are 250 million-child labor, 150


million street children, 1 million children in prostitution 35
million refugee women and children who are victimized by wars
and 10 million women and child victims of domestic violence in
the world. These numbers are rising daily. In the Philippines,
there were about 1.5 million street children. In Luzon they have
1,557 highly visible and estimated total of 22,72. In Visayas ,
5,291 highly visible and 40,860 estimated total and here in
Mindanao we have 22,556 highly visible and 138,328,
approximately 70% of the children are boys, according to a
1998 report titled "Situation of the Youth in the Philippines".
They leave home hungry and beg on the street where they are
vulnerable to sexual exploitation, disease, malnutrition,
illiteracy, abuse and trafficking for sexual exploitation.
