Your Mission - Week 8

Howdy folks,
Congratulations on making it to the end of the program. Of course, it’s not really the end. It’s
just the beginning. After all, you wouldn’t expect to have 8 weeks of guitar lessons and be a
fantastic guitar player, would you? You’d expect do lots and lots and lots of practice for a long
time to come, right?

And it’s much the same with this program. Except, rather than learning to play guitar, you’ve
been learning to play the game of life. You’ve been introduced to many new skills – and the
idea now is that you keep on practicing, and practicing, and practicing. And over time, the more
you practice these skills and apply them in daily life, the more benefit you will gain.

So, please continue formally practicing some sort of skills-building exercise for 5-10 mins, 1-2
times a day (or 15-20 minutes once a day), at least 3-4 days a week. This could include dropping
anchor (wk 2), leaves on a stream (wk 3), mindfulness of the breath (wk 4), an acceptance or
self-compassion practice (wk 6), or an “observing self” exercise (wk 8).

And in addition, keep on:

● Noticing your towards and away moves


● Dropping anchor
● Quick unhooking (e.g. naming the story)
● Choosing values: flavouring and savouring
● Focusing on and engaging in what you do
● Savouring what you do that’s enjoyable
● Acknowledging and making room for your feelings
● Being kind to yourself
● Setting SMART goals when needed

Good luck with it all, and remember: life gives most to those who make the most of what life
gives.
