from a much greater scale, and it is humanity. According to BUILD abroad, “A global
citizen can broadly be defined as some who identifies as being part of an emerging
world community and seeks to contribute to the values and practices it upholds. They
and the choices we make on a local scale can have global ramifications.” In this simple
statement, it could be said that every human being around the world is to be considered
as a global citizen ever since their time of birth. But contributing to the improvement of
global citizenship is the decision that each of us has to make in our life. Now, here in the
Philippines, the idea of global citizenship has brought the country many advantages.
Some of those advantages are the following: The Philippines and its people could freely
participate in the global economy; Our country can learn and adapt to new knowledge
from other countries; The Philippines and many various countries are currently under
the International Human Rights Law that brought equality and just system to many
countries; Just like other countries, the Philippines also gain the opportunity to make
connections to other countries and freely learn more about their culture; It could also
lead Filipinos to have a greater understanding to different events that are happening
around the world; Lastly it enables the Philippines and the Filipinos to participate in
understanding and resolving the current global issues. These are some of the
advantages that global citizenship has brought to the Philippines, and these advantages
enable the Philippines to be more active and willing to participate in the events outside
the country. Moreover, global citizenship is a bold ideology that states the connection of
different people from different countries, and how they could affect and bring change to
