With we MUL PLIER set at 20, the voltage at the summing resistor R204 is approximately 2V. By applying approximately +10V OC at the VCF input, approximately +2V is applied at summing resistor R202. The ~ 2V from the MULTIPLIER and the +2 at the VCF input add to provice OV at me summing ampiiier ‘output. This will cause me frequency to decrease approx mately three decades or 1000 1. If itis desirable to sweep uo in frequeney rather thon down, set the MULTIPLIER a: imum counter-clockwse (approxmately GV at te summins amolifier cutout), This will set the frequency approximate’¢ three decades below the selected franuency RANGE Ey applying approximately 10V at the VCE inpus, the cummins amplifier outaut will be forced to *2V. eausing the cease to Increaie three decaves or to the maximum frequency in icated ov the selected trequency RANGE. By setting the MULTIPLIER at the desired start frequency and applying the Proper AC or DC voltage at the VCF input, the frequency may be swept as desired over a vireedecade range NOTE. The maximum trequonoy and minimum treeuency limits on any selected Frequency RANGE are between 002 and 2.0 (1000-1) on tne MULTIPLIER dia} 0201 provides a voltag:-to:current conversion for driving the positive current source 20} converts the voltage at OZ01 ‘emitter to a constant current through R214A, Assume DUTY Control is in the CAL position By varyig the MULTIPLIER the voltae on RIOBA varios, causing the current throush A214 to vary. The eurrent through A2OBA and AZI4A ate equal except for a small amount of base current for C201 and bias current for U202 Inverter The INVERTER (U202, 6202) inverts the voltage at the summing amplifier output (2201 emitter) ond appears across 209A which is equal hn valus to R20BA, U202 is an opers- tional amplifier connected for a closed-loop gain af ~1 (invert ing). The +2V at 0201 emitter i inverted and becomes -2V at conjunction with the operational ampiifer U202. The vol tage across 2098 is equal to the voltage across 2088, there fore: the current through R214B is equal to the current through R214 (assuming VR202 is in the Cal position) 0202, like 0201, provides a voltage-tacurrent conversion Positive and Negative Current Source The positive and negative current sources provide » constant ‘current for charging anid discharging the timing capacitors 1203 and 203 form a voltage followar. U203 ie on opera tional amplifier with very low input bias currents necessary 10 present timing current errors, QZO3 is an emitter follower Providing the voltage tocurrent conversion for the cuerent U204 and 0204 perform the same function for the newative current source, Equal voltages appear at the current source Inputs and outputs dependent upon the MULTIPLIER set tira as previously explained Since the currant rhough R2M4A and R2149 are equal he voltage at U203 and U204 inputs is equal and opposte in polarity. The voltage appearing at ©203 and Q204 emitters 8 also equal and opposite in polarity, The timing current is determined by the voltage ecross the timing resisiors (R246 to 219 end R220 to A223) The RANGE pushbutton switches select the proper timing Fesistors and capacitors according to the frequency ranse ‘lected bury 5292 INVERT switch and VA202 VAR DUTY control are Utlized {0 obtain pulse and ramp wavetorms, When the VAR DUTY conteal VR202 is in the CAL position, 82084, and R2088 sre both connected to around in either position OF the DUTY switch $202. Soe AAs long as 208A and AZ088 are grounded, the current thus R208A and R028 is equal a previously explained. When the INVERT switch in the NORM position (out), 208A is grounded directly and 2088 js grounded through VR202, the through R214B, R2089, R214A and R'Z0EA are equal; there fore the voltages at 0203 and G204 sre equal and opposite in Polarity. A triangle waveform i produced across the timing sapacitor when the DUTY conteol is in the CAL positon, When VA202 is not set to the CAL position, the resistance from 0202 emitter to ground is variable from 1Kolim to approximately 20K ohmi. The voltage at 0202 emitter ro mains constant determined by the MULTIPLIER setting ‘This causes the current thus R20BB to vary over approximate. Wy. 2 20:1 range, approx. 2ma in the CAL position (1K) and sprroximately, Ima in the CW position (20K), Current thus 208A remains constant while current thus R2088 is variable, ‘The positive current source voltage remains fixed and the pegative current source voltoge ib variable by the DUTY control. A variable slope rainp wavelorm is produced in this ‘manner. The slope of the lamp is adjusted as desired over approximately a 20:1 range. When the INVERT switch (S202) is Set to the INVERT position, the positive current source becomes variable and the negative current source remains fixed reversing the slopes of the ramp waveform. NOTE: When VR202 is in the CAL position, the position of $202 his no effect because R20BA and R208 ato both grounded ineither position of $202, Current Source Diode Switch A diode switch is utilized for connecting and disconnecting the current sources: One cutput from the level detsctor sinks the current from sitner the positive or negative current source When the input to the switching brideg is positive, the iow: Getector sinks. the current from the negative current sour thru diodes 0205 ené 0206. Sine Sheper Three diode bridges are utilized to produce a sine wave from the triangle waveform. D401, D402 and D403 are thrae ma tghed diode sets of 4 diodes in cach set. The triangle wave form from the buffer output is connected to these three diode bridges theu R401. As the triangle veltage rises above OV, the current thru R404 increases exponentially in the positive Gitection thru BOAOIE and R402 while the current thru BD401D and R403 is being shunted thry BOSOIC as the tri: angle voltage rises toward its positive peak, When the triangle has reached its positive peak, the current thru R404 10 the +15V supply has reached a maximum.
