In my opinion, the murder must have been the ticket inspector.

He is missing
because he might have escaped using an open window. Yet, before committing a crime
he might have made sure that he was safe, that's why he probably have decided to
lock up two men in the toilet two hours previously. The man who is lying
unconscious in a train compartment might have been some influent wealthy man. Our
robber might have known that before that's why he managed to steal his money and
easily escape without conscious victims. The weapon which he may have used to stunt
this man probably was a golf club. That's the reason why itis currently lying next
to the victim. It might have been hidden at the toilet, and these two men probably
saw him taking it out of the room and that was the reason why they were locked up
for two hours.
