A. BELOW ARE SOME IMPORTANT EVENTS IN JESUS LIFE.

AFTER
READING THE TEXTS IN THE BIBLE, EXPLAIN HOW JESUS
EXEMPLIFIED HIS LAW OF LOVE IN EACH OF THESE EVENTS AND GIVE
A CONCRETE WAY BY WHICH YOU COULD FOLLOW JESUS’ EXAMPLE
1. The wedding in cana
Jesus exemplified his law of love is when the transformation of water into wine at
the Marriage in the wedding of cana is the first miracle attributed to Jesus in the
Gospel of John. In the Gospel account, Jesus his mother and his disciples are
invited to a wedding, and when the wine runs out, Jesus delivers a sign of his
divinity by turning water into wine. This tells us to care for your neighbor and to
care for everyone who needs help.
2. The multiplication of the Loaves and fish
Jesus exemplified his law of love when he used five loaves and two fish supplied
by a boy to feed a multitude. According to Matthew's gospel, when Jesus heard
that John the Baptist had been killed, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary
place. Luke specifies that the place was near Bethsaida. The crowds followed
Jesus on foot from the towns. When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he
had compassion on them and healed their sick. As evening approached, the
disciples came to him and said, "This is a remote place, and it's already getting
late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves
some food. This tells us that if we know that we can share even if there’s nothing
left to us share with them this will lead us in a good way.
3. The dinner at zacchaeus’ house
Jesus exemplified his law of love when Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord,
“Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have
cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”Jesus
said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too is a
son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.”
This tell us how bad they are to us we must give them another chance to make
things better and not to do it again.
4. THE HEALING OF THE TEN LEPERS
Jesus exemplified his law of love when God’s mercy is for all. It matters not your
status rich or poor, sick or well, men, women, children, people of all races. It is
for all of us! These were ten lepers living in rejection because of their disease
yet God had mercy on them. We are unclean too our sins are like leprosy, eating
away at our soul. Come to Jesus and accept His mercy and grace.

5. The last supper

Jesus exemplifies his law of love when Jesus knew in advance that Judas would
betray him to his enemies, he washed his feet. Where in all of scripture is a
better example of the practice of the following injunction? “Love your enemies,
bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them
which despitefully use you, and persecute you.”

B. WHAT CONCRETE STEPS WILL YOU UNDERTAKE AS A YOUNG STUDENT

IN ORDER TO CARRY OUT THE FOLLOWING WORKS OF LOVE?
1. Treat everyone as a neighbor
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, always be good and
help everyone. For example your neighbor is having a hard time to clean their
house since, you’re not busy help them and clean the house to lessen the
task assigned to her.
2. FORGIVE OTHERS
is a process that takes time and effort. Forgiveness requires processing what
occurred and how it impacted you, and finding a way to let go of the anger,
pain, and desire for revenge. When you make peace with what happened,
you can let it go and move on.
3. Help the needy
One of the better ways to help the poor and needy people is to give them a
hand up rather than a hand out. Giving them moral support, showing heartfelt
humility and respect makes them aware that someone really does care about
them and trying to improve their condition. By providing them with the
opportunities to improve their condition on their own would increase their self-
esteem and help them in overcoming barriers they face everyday. Work with
the poor and needy people and help them discover their own capabilities and
capacity and putting them to use at the right place at the right time. Support
them and let them know that they have something of value which can be used
for meeting their basic requirements.
4. Follow jesus’ golden rule
Which says we can go to God for our needs and receive help from Him: “Ask,
and it will be given to you seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened
to you. Assures us that it is God’s desire to help us: “For everyone who asks
receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”
