My dear Rahul,

I am pleased to inform you that we recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of India's
Independence at our school. It was a gala function spread over three days. Each day had separate
programmes in the morning and evening sessions. The morning sessions were devoted to talks,
debates, symposium, poetry recitation, art exhibitions depicting the heroic efforts and sacrifices
of our freedom fighters. The three evenings upheld the glory and unity in diversity of our country
through dance, drama and music. The cultural programmes were attended by the parents and
respectable members of society. Every evening we had a distinguished freedom fighter as the
chief guest. Their very presence was

Lo inspiring. Their words had a magical effect on the listeners. The Director of Education
awarded prizes to the winners at the end of the celebrations.

I enjoyed the function very much.
