Introduction
In order to analyze the effect of the Reading Program on students’ Language Arts
performance, data was collected while the intervention program was conducted. The data
collected will be presented and analyzed in order to create ideas of the positive and negative
effects of employing this program to improve comprehension and fluency of primary school

Analysis of Data
Chart 1 shows that 19% of the students in the study were at their recommended grade
level, 31% of students were above the recommended grade level and 50% of the students were
below their recommended grade level in reading. Having implementing the program, it can be
seen from the data collected that most of the students had an increase in fluency. The chart which

they used to record the number of correct words read per minute showed an increase for 93% of
the students in the program. This can be seen in the above chart 2. Individual scores were
displayed in graph 1 in order for a clearer picture of how the repeated reading and
comprehension activities aided in increasing the number of accurate words read per minute. The
graph shows most students improved in speed accuracy. This shows relation to previous
researches using the program as they all show increased numbers in the amount of words read
per minute after using the program. While examining the scores of the pre-test and the post-test,
it is evident that some students increased the number of errors made, some students errors while
two students remained with the same number of errors. The mean, median, mode and range
however, respectively show decreases in number implying that overall, the students did make
improvements in the number of errors made while reading. Although most students showed
average and few above average performance in comprehension before the program was carried
out, post-test scores revealed that majority showed development in comprehension. The mean,
median and mode increased while the range showed a smaller difference which indicates that
Chapter Summary
The data collected during the intervention program was presented and analyzed to
decipher whether or not students improved in Comprehension and Fluency after the
implementation. The results showed that most students showed a decrease in the number of
errors made during reading after the program. While most students were competent in
comprehension, the results also showed an increase in the average performance of students in
comprehension.
