Dear SLCC STEM Tutoring Center,

I would like to recommend Jacob Burton for a tutoring position. Jacob is a student in my
engineering dynamics class, and it is very clear to me that he has an intimate understanding of
the idiosyncrasies associated with higher-ed instruction.

Jacob consistently seeks extra help, not because he is behind in the course, but because has
a genuine desire to understand the material. He has a very mature understanding that mastery
of material requires one to constantly look for new perspectives, and I believe he uses similar
techniques when he helps students at the tutoring center. Jacob also understands that
teaching a topic is one of the ultimate ways to gain new perspectives. I believe tutoring is
important to him because it provides him more ways to comprehend the complex material from
his field of study.

For our engineering dynamics semester project, it is apparent to me that he has put significant
thought in the necessary techniques associated with data collection. He understands needs to
improve data accuracy. Also, I believe his tutoring experience helps him know the importance
of verifying his work. I am excited to see what he comes up with.

Please consider this highly qualified individual as a tutor.

Sincerely,

Andrew Vogt, PhD
