ْ َ‫اربُ ِع ْن َد ُك ِّل ا ْبتِدَا ٍء َويَحْ َم ُد ِع ْن َد ُك ِّل ق‬

َ ‫ت‬ َ ‫ال أَ ْك ٌل َو َح ْم ٌد خَ ْي ٌر ِم ْن أَ ْك ٍل َو‬
ٍ ‫ص ْم‬ َ َ‫ َوقَ ْد يُقَا ُل ِم ْثلُهُ فِي أَ ْك ِل ُكلِّ لُ ْق َم ٍة فَ َعلَهُ أَحْ َم ُد َوق‬.

Imam Ahmed would say, "Bismillah” before eating each morsel, and "Alhamdulillah" after each one. He
would say, "Eating and praising is better than eating and remaining silent."

Strive to make this a habit.

The uncle of the Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬, al-`Abbas, addressed him at the end of his life, on their return
from Tabuk, his last expedition, with the following verse:

ُ‫ك األُفُق‬ َ ‫ت األَرْ ضُ و‬


ْ ‫ضا َء‬
ِ ُ‫ت بِن‬
َ ‫ور‬ ْ َ‫وأَ ْنتَ لَ َّما ُولِدْتَ أ ْش َرق‬

ُ‫ور و ُس ْب ِل ال َّرشَا ِد ن َْخت َِرق‬


ِ ُّ‫فَنَحْ نُ في ذلك الضِّ يا ِء وفي الن‬

When you were born the earth and the horizons were illuminated by your light

We remain bathed in that glow and it continues to light the path as we travel it
