Dear Bonie Smith:
I am writing to express my interest in applying for the laboratory technician job published in the
UNC-Chapel Hill Employment Opportunities webpage. My experience and education make me an
excellent candidate for this position. As an undergraduate student in Biomedical Sciences, I have
been involved in research since my first semester, developing the qualities that would make me
successful in this position.
My different experiences working in laboratories, I have acquired skills in mammalian cell
culture, protein extraction and analysis, and bacterial transformation for the isolation of plasmids,
mouse surgery and histological tissue processing. I am especially familiar with the sterilization and
maintenance protocols of a laboratory, including troubleshooting procedures to successfully
conduct an experiment.
Enclosed is my résumé, which focuses on my skills and experiences gained from my research
opportunities that would be a great asset for the laboratory technician job. If you feel that my
qualifications meet with the approval, I will make myself available for an interview at your
convenience. I can be reached at kevin.cruz21 @upr.edu or by phone at (787)-204-5041.
Respectfully,
Kevin O. Cruz-Colén
