ENGL 4021 L 03 MINUTES
Meeting Date: September 2nd, 2020

Call to Order:
A regular meeting of the Course ENGL 4021 L03 of the University of Puerto Rico at Ponce was held
remotely via Google Meet video conference on September 2nd, 2020. The meeting convened at 1:30 pm,
Professor Le Compte presiding and Jessica Rivera Ramírez, secretary. All students attended except:
Nancy D. Jordan Sotomayor and Luis O. Reyes Báez.

Approval of Minutes:
Minutes of the prior meeting on August 31st, 2020 presented by Amanda Acosta Mirabal, Nelmilian
Meléndez García, and Luis A. De Jesús Trochez were approved after corrections.

Matters Discussed:

1. The students completed a free writing exercise with the following question: “If you were to inhabit
the world of any video or computer game, which one would you select?”.

2. The professor reviewed the elements of technical instructions:

a) Title
b) Introductory sentence
c) Numbered steps
d) Label design
e) Warnings

3. Professor Le Compte discussed the different types of graphic organizers that could be used as part
of a technical document. She explained the proper way to make an outline.

4. Le Compte divided the students in pairs, told them to write their phone number on the member-
contact sheet and assigned them to make an outline of the three different types of mouse traps. She
also assigned the reading of Chapters I and II of the book “Pocket Guide to Technical
Communication” for next week.

5. The professor showed the list of groups for the progress report and explained the options that the
students have to complete the project, these were:
a. Atabey Garden
b. Farms
c. Home Garden

Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 2:55pm.
