ENGL 4021 L03 MINUTES
Meeting Date: August 31st, 2020

Call to Order:
A regular meeting of the Course ENGL 4021 L03 of the University of Puerto Rico at Ponce was held
remotely via Google Meet video conference on August 31st, 2020. The meeting convened at 1:30pm,
Professor LeCompte presiding and Nelmilian Meléndez García, secretary. All students attended except:
Anderson Cruz Santana and Nancy D. Jordan Sotomayor.

Approval of Minutes:
Minutes of the August 26th, 2020 meeting were approved after corrections.

Matters Discussed:
1. Professor Le Compte began the meeting giving the students two minutes to complete the free
writing exercise: “If you could keep only one memory what would it be?”.

2. Students and professor discussed the minutes of the past meeting and made corrections.

3. The professor discussed the elements and characteristics of technical instructions. She
highlighted the things that need to be in the instructions for them to be technical:
a) Title
b) Introductory sentence
c) Numbered steps
d) Diagram (with useful labels)

4. The professor asked students to self-evaluate their assignment of technical instructions.

5. Students and professor discussed the Venn diagram assignment.

6. Le Compte explained the assignments for the next meeting (September 2nd, 2020) which
consisted of:
a) Reading chapters one and two.
b) Revising the Venn diagram and technical instructions assignment.

Unfinished Business:
Professor Le Compte postponed the discussion of the outline to a non-specified date.

Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 2:58pm.
