Management Information System(MIS) In Education Sector

Introduction
A management information system (EMIS) is an information system used
for decision-making, and for the coordination, control, analysis, and visualization
of information in Education area.
Information resource is one of the major issues which effects the university gap
analysis and planning. Where the relevant information required for planning are
not available at the appropriate time which results poor planning, inappropriate
decision making, poor prioritization of the needs, defective programming or
scheduling of activities. Hence, the university information management system
will not be efficient and effective in its operation. Poor management information
system has been identified as a bottleneck in the successful management of
universities in many educational areas.
Education Management information system (EMIS) is a crucial component of
management system which enables leaders to effectively collect data, analyze,
pivot and summarize the data and information based on need to plan future
planning and way forward.
MIS in education section can help the decision makers to quickly analyze and
understand the status of progresses, weakness and achievement against targets.
Unfortunately, in our country utilization of MIS is not systemized in the
educational sector, but recently its utilization is stared both at government
education sector as well as private universities. MIS utilization as an essential need
to do gap and needs analysis and to plan for effective performance, is recognized.
