ENGL 1301-05

Intro Paragraph

I will be looking into the career of a ER nurse and the requirements and criteria needed

for the job. Registered nurses who are called to work in the ER can’t have a weak stomach, they

need to be able to work under pressure and think quickly. They will indulge in providing care,

giving medicine, and monitoring patients and their health needs. RNs need to be able to handle

stress and pay attention to detail – many of the things they do are life or death situations, so they

must be able to remain calm and handle the stress, all while thinking quickly and critically and

acting upon it. With a generous salary, the growing demand, and the ever-changing, fast-paced

work environment make being a registered nurse in the ER an excellent career choice for the

Houston/Galveston area.
