Being a nurse isn’t for the light-hearted. One must be compassionate and possess the
ability to think critically, even when a patient is facing a life or death situation. Being able to pay
attention to detail and remain calm under pressure are also important traits to carry while
working in this profession. Stress is almost guaranteed in this job and a nurse should not fold
under this – it may interfere with how they handle a patient or administer care.
RNs are constantly making a difference in people’s lives. It is a job where it is easy to
remember how much of an impact you’re making. When you enjoy helping others, and enjoy
your job, it makes work feel less like working – and in turn makes the overall experience more
enjoyable. When a person thoroughly enjoys their job, it is no longer ‘work vs. home’ life, it is
simply just life. As a nurse, it’s important that one enjoys their job, not only for their benefit, but
for the benefit of their patient as well. To become a nurse, you must have an actual desire to help
others rather than simply doing so because it makes a pretty penny. Your work will mean more
to you when you truly desire to make a difference – this desire and enjoyment will help allow
mold you into a better nurse, and help you better care for your patients.
With endless possibilities and never-ending opportunities, along with the high demand for
nurses in the future – nursing is one of the most rewarding careers choices available.
There is a shortage of nurses in the United States today, and although there is expected to be a
projected 16% growth within the next 4 years (for RNs specifically), the demand is still
massive. With such a need for nurses everywhere, there are many available opportunities for
those who choose this career path. From nursing midwives, to home care nurses, to nurse
practitioners – the possibilities are endless when it comes to job specialization. Because there are
endless possibilities that come with becoming a nurse, as well as such a high demand for them –
