Analog Project #1---- “And I Love Her”

“And I Love Her” is one of the most romantic songs sung by Beatles. Many of their

songs show unassured love, such as “If I fell”, but this song is different. The song mainly

describes how much do “I” love “her”, and how much does she love “me”. Firm conviction is the

rose that never fades, the word affirmation makes the author believes that the love between his

lover and him will last forever.

“And I Love Her” describes the love of eros, which is erotic, romantic, and passionate

love. The lyrics, “The kiss my lover brings” proves that the love is receiving from his lover.

Although the lyric does not indicate what type of kiss is it, but I believe the kiss is full of the love

of eros based on the lyrics “a love like ours could never die”.

Meeting the right person helps the Beatles rekindle the hope of love. “And I Lover Her”

was included on A Hard Day’s Night album. I think this song relates to “If I Fell”; they were

both presented in the same album. The author expresses that he is afraid of falling in love again

through “If I Fell”. The authors have been through many sad and unhappy memories with his ex-

lovers. The previous love experiences break his heart. He does not want to easily fall in love,

because he knows that once he fell in love, he will be treating the relationship seriously, and

being loyalty. “And I Love Her” evidence that the author is being emotionally engaged with the

relationship and his lover. The lyrics, “I give her all my love, that’s all I do”. “All my love”

indicates that his lover is the most important in his life. The author devotes all his love to his

lover. There is no place for other people in his heart. His heart is only belonged to his lover. The

author is so proud to have her as his girlfriend.

In the beginning of the song, there is a solo guitar performance. The solo is echoing the

feel of love in prelude and ending of the song. The lyrics, “bright are the stars that shine, dark is

the sky” strongly presents how his life has been changed since he met his lover. This particular

lyric expresses that the author’s inside world was dark after he got hurts too many times in the

previous relationship, then, his new lover lights his whole world up. For me, the guitar solo and

the repetition of singing “this love of mine will never die” add most to the theme of love in the

song. The guitar solo gives audiences a sense of feeling that two lovers are walking beneath the

beautiful stars, they’re in a romantic place with themselves only, no one will interrupt and bother

them. There are one hundred stars in your eyes shine for the one you love, I have no stars but I

have eyes for you. It brings a beautiful romantic imaginary scene to the audiences while listening

the guitar solo. The repetition of “this love of mine will never die” expresses a strong and

powerful belief that the author has for his relationship.

In conclusion, “And I Love Her” is a romantic song that presents the most beautiful love

that the author has given to his lover. The strong believe takes author away from the previous

love hurts and be ready to move into the next stage of life. The song “In my Life” was published

a year after this song, and the song shows that the author is finally admitting his love and

knowing what he really wants, and being ready for the next stage of life. These two songs are

also connected together.
