-scissors

Opening to Lesson

• Explain to students' who Rosa Parks was, and what individuality is through a PowerPoint

presentation and discussions.

Body of Lesson

Modeling

• Students will be given a paper and a pair of scissors, being told to make “snowflakes”. Once

papers have been folded and cut correctly, students will reveal their unique looking projects.

• Students will be instructed to write at least one person, themselves or a historical figure

(besides Rosa Parks), who has practiced individuality.

• The class will discuss how these snowflakes, which are all different, relate to Parks and

individuality. By this point they should make the connection and should easily be able to define

and discuss the two.

their participation and answers on the snowflake for themselves or someone they know who
