Interviewing Ancestors.

Sharlyn Devenish

I read the Finding Ancestors Who May Need Ordinances, watched “Interview Example”.

Then I began my interview by looking at my home page and seeing recommended tasks. I noticed a
Tripcony. Weird he doesn’t have a first name. I started my search checking out his information
wondering if it’s incorrect, and he might be one of his other siblings since has zero sources. I looked at
his record hints and found 11 the first one I opened had 449 images. I began to look through them each
page is handwritten with so much information per page it’s difficult to decipher what your reading and
that is a source that is going to take a lot of time to go through. Because of time I moved to the next
resource help. The next research help has me researching that he could be Constantine Tripcony from
my research I can’t prove that this is the same person. I have found a child named Ellen and this source
shows his wife is Jane and I found another Baptism register with a child named John. My original source
only had a son named William so I think these are different people. I continued to check out the next 11
sources and got nowhere. I decided to interview the mother Jane because I found a source showing
Williams baptism with just the name Jane Tripcony listed. After hour of searching resources. I decided
something in not right and this makes no sense. After looking over all my notes. I am wondering if
William was born out of wedlock or something and this record is really the sister Jane Tripcony listed
just under my Tripcony in the family children. The reason I have been thinking this way is when I clicked
on Jane Tripcony the sister, I found she doesn’t have any information other than her christening and the
birth is only one year later than the Jane who is supposed the wife to this Tripcony person William’s
mother. So far, I can’t find any record the Jane ever married.

So, I decided to interview her son William Tripcony sources. There I found the baptism showing only his
mother’s name. Then a census list him as the grandson for Henry and Ann Tripcony who are Jane’s
Brother and Sister in law. Based on this information that I have found. I believe Tripcony is a mistake and
really the son listed is the sister Jane Tripcony who had a baby out of wedlock so the brother and sister
in law raise the baby. Now I can look for a spouse and seal him to his family.

I have been working on this interview for 4 hours. And plan on continue my research further another
day.
