Dear Mr. And Ms.

Alvarez,

Hello, my name is Ms. Tran, and I am your son Michael’s 7th grade English teacher. Let
me begin by saying that Michael is a fantastic addition to my class. He brings a great energy to
the class and he is always attentive. His test and quiz scores align with his ability and I can tell
he puts a lot of effort into studying. When his classmates ask him for help, he is always available
to help and provide guidance. He has never turned any work in late and makes it a point to seek
tutoring when he struggles with a concept in his work.

However, I noticed that while Michael is a great student, he often does not come to class
on time. He is usually late by a couple minutes or more and misses the first part of class. Michael
tells me that he is late because there is no one to take him to school, so he has to walk to school.

To aid Michael with this struggle he has presented, I have created a plan that I believe
will not only help Michael come to class on time but thrive in school beyond what he is already
doing. I will help Michael receive a bus pass that he can use to take the school bus to school. I
will also see which students live near Michael and ask their parents if they will allow Michael to
ride-share with them. I will give you their information as well, so you can contact them and
solidify a ride-sharing schedule in case Michael misses the bus.

This way, Michael can arrive to class on time and there is a backup plan in case he misses
the school bus. I feel that this combination of having Michael take the school bus and ride-share
with his classmates will help Michael come prepared and on time for class, which is a vital tool
for not only my class, but all his classes.

Thank you for your partnership with this. I look forward to meeting with you to further
discuss a cooperative action plan for Michael. I am available every Tuesday and Thursday from
3:00 to 5:30 pm. Please let me know which day and time will work best for you and I will
schedule this meeting on my calendar.

Sincerely,

Michelle Tran
