Evelyn Knighten created a linocut print titled "Confusion" using a single stamp and watercolor background. She overlapped prints from the stamp to create an intricate shape, then added watercolor for color and contrast. The piece was inspired by Baxter Textile Mill archives and experiments with transforming a simple stamp into varied designs. Knighten enjoyed the creative freedom of the project and how it pushed her art skills.

My piece consists of ink prints from my stamp on a scrapped piece of paper with watercolor. I overlapped my prints to create this intricate shape in a previous piece and thought that it would look good with the watercolor as a the background. Throughout this art project I used this stamp in many different ways to create a new shape or form. For this particular piece I used watercolor to provide color and contrast and placed the print in the center to add emphasis on the design. My art piece is inspired by the Baxter Mills textiles prints’ shape and my love for creating new designs and having colorful and interesting background. I chose the current design because I wanted to experiment with what I could do with just one stamp. I chose to do watercolor as a background to make the piece more colorful and interesting to look at. And I feel like I’ve created what I was going for an interesting piece made out of a very simple stamp idea. I liked this project very much because it opened my eyes to new ways to make art . I discovered that you can just take one simple design and turn it into many different intricate pieces. If we were to do this again I would like to push the limits further and try a more advanced design and would try to make it neater. Anyway,I loved the freedom we were given in this project and think that is definitely in my top 5 favorite art projects. This project was certainly a challenge but I feel that I have somewhat grown in my experience in art. 8
