Artist-In-Residence program at the Rocky Mountain National Park

ESTES PARK, Colo. (DEC. 7, 2020) – The Rocky Mountain National Park is hosting
professional writers, composers, visual and performing artists in the William Allen White cabins
for its annual Artist-In-Residence program. The two-week program runs from June to September.

The Artist-In-Residence program continues the tradition of artists helping revive the park
through visual records.

To apply, interested artists must submit application materials and art samples. All artists and age
groups are welcome.

The program is offering a place for artists to get inspired by the Rocky Mountain National Park’s
scenery. The selected artists will receive a two-week complimentary stay at the historic William
Allen White Cabin, allowing them to be one with nature and work on their art.

“National parks have been my greatest teacher and inspiration for the arts” Dustin Van Wechel, a
former Artist-In-Residence participant, said.

The park teams up with artists to translate the park’s purpose and heritage into an art form for the
public to understand. The selected artists must submit an original piece of work within a year of
the program, providing copyright to the National Park Service.

During their stay, the artists must present two public programs that run for 45 minutes each. The
presentations should be tailored to their medium, interest and experience at the park. Learn more
about the Artist-In-Residence program by calling the Volunteer Program Manager at 970-586-
1330.

The Rocky Mountain National Park has been a place of exploration since the late 1700s. The
park allows for recreational activities that include hiking, climbing, picnicking, bicycling and
fishing. Further information about the Rocky Mountain National Park can be found at
