The 1st announcer: Children, do you not know what feast is today?

Children: No!
The 2nd announcer: What's the date today?
Children: Today is the sixth of December.
The 1st announcer: Yes, this is St. Nicholas Day. St. Nicholas Day is celebrated on the sixth of December.
The 2nd announcer: Many legends are told about St. Nicholas.
The 1st announcer: Long, long ago, many hundreds of years ago. There lived a good man. He lived in Asia Minor in
the city of Myra. This is far from here, far above the Great Sea. The man's name is Nicholas. He is a bishop, he has a
big house, he has a lot of money, a lot of nice things. Everything belongs to him. What does he do with the money and
the beautiful things?
The 2nd announcer: There are many poor or sick people. They have no bed. They have nothing to eat. Nicholas sees
everything. Nikolaus knows: I have to help you. How does he do that?
The 1st announcer: It is evening, still and dark. Nicholas quietly goes out of the house to the children, the poor. He
stands in front of a door, puts a boot in front of it. He throws something into it. It is money. So it goes on, very quietly.
The poor should know nothing of whom is the good. They find the gifts and are happy. Where does that come from?
No one knows, only God alone.
The 2nd announcer: Today Saint Nicholas is one of the most popular saints in all countries and every year on
December 6 comes to the children puts gifts in the boots.
The song “St. Nicholas is here”

The 1st announcer: Only good children get gifts. The others get rod from Knecht Ruprecht.
