Objective:​ To teach the class about Lawrence Kohlberg’s Stages of Moral Development. I want
the class to have a better understanding of the moral choices that we make on a day to day basis
and how our choices can have consequences.

Materials: ​Google Drive Powerpoint to present my lesson. Use of the Elmo for an activity
where we read a short story about making moral choices and answering four questions. A
handout sheet containing the Six Stages of Moral Development.

Instruction:
● Ask the class if they’ve ever heard of Lawrence Kohlberg or his Six Stages of Moral
Development

○ Slide 8 (Postconventional Morality)
○ Slide 9 (Criticism of Kohlberg’s Theory)
● Activity: Short story about Heinz’s Wife and the four questions to go along with it.

Closure:​ How can we use Kohlberg’s Six Stages of Moral Development to help us better
understand moral decisions? Can we think about our choices differently when thinking about the
moral aspects of our choices?
