Materials

For the materials of this research, the researcher needs to prepare a few sets of ingredients

and tools. First of all, the researcher must prepare the San Fernando roots. He can buy it or

harvest it if he has grown some. It must be of good quality. For making the flour, he will need a

blender or he can just go to town and rent a milling service. As for baking the cookies after

obtaining the desired flour, he must prepare the following ingredients: baking soda, salt, unsalted

butter, light brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and dark chocolate chips. For

the tools, he must prepare an oven and packaging for the cookies.

Methods

A. Making San Fernando Flour

1. Clean and cut the San Fernando into thin strips as to hasten the drying process.

2. Put the cut strips in a container and let it dry in the sun.

3. Continue drying the San Fernando until it is suitable to be milled.

4. Mill the dried San Fernando strips to flour.

5. Keep milling until you reached the desired texture.

B. Baking Cookies

Ingredients:

 1 ½ cups San Fernando Flour

 1 tbsp baking soda

 3 tsp salt

 1 cup unsalted butter


 1 ½ light brown sugar

 ½ cup granulated sugar

 2 eggs

 1 tsp vanilla extract

 ¾ - 1 cup dark chocolate chips

Procedure:

1. Preheat oven to 375 ℉.

2. Lightly grease two baking sheets.

3. In a large mixing bowl, beat butter until smooth. Stir in brown sugar and granulated sugar

until well combined and smooth.

4. Beat in eggs and vanilla until mixture is fluffy

5. Stir in San Fernando Flour, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

6. Stir in chocolate chips.

7. Drop about 2 tbsp of batter for each cookie onto baking sheet about 2 inches apart.

8. Bake cookies for 2 minutes. Rotate baking sheets 180 degrees and reduce temperature to

350 ℉.

9. Bake cookies for about 6 to 7 minutes more until they’re set and evenly brown across the

top. Let set further on baking sheet for maybe a minute or so after removing from oven to

firm up before moving to the cooling rack.

*Makes about 40 cookies.
