E ploring Glacier National Park as a famil


● Guided hikes led by park rangers are a great way for kids to learn about the park s

history, fauna and wildlife.

● Families can enjoy an easy 1.3-mile hike to Hidden Lake Overlook to see Sperry Glacier,

one of the remaining 26 glaciers in the park.

● Children can become a Junior Ranger by learning about animals, glaciers and history of

the park.

● Glacier s Half the Park Happens after Dark program provides families the opportunity to

use sophisticated telescopes to view the Milky Way.

● Night time ranger-led viewings give families the opportunity to see the International

Space Station from Earth.

● Families can enjoy rafting trips on the Flathead River in individual kayak s or larger rafts

depending on their ages.

● Fishing on Lake McDonald offers families the chance to catch and release unique fish

which are native to the region.

● Guided horseback rides through the park offer families the opportunity to view the park

in a different way.

● Blackfeet, Salish, and Kootenai tribal members share their knowledge of the history and

culture of Native America with visitors as part of the Native America Speaks program.
