Praxis Core Exam Analysis

Exam Requirements

The Praxis Core Exam is a prerequisite to becoming a teacher in the United

States, with each state holding a unique ser of requirements regarding the test and what

constitutes passing or failing. For instance, one must pass the exam even before

continuing to purse a bachelor’s degree at any University. The passing scores are as

follows according to ets.org: math-150, reading-156 and writing-162.

Exam Preparation

In preparation for my ETS practice exam I had reviewed the praxis preparation

modules on canvas that I had completed in a prior education class. I also reviewed links

provided by Dr. Isbell that allowed me to do additional activities in Khan Academy.

Exam Results

My results are disappointing to say the least. In reading, I scored a 68% which

means I need much more improvement than I had anticipated. In, writing I scored an 85%

which indicates I am likely to pass, however this score is still quite a bit lower than I had

hoped for. My math score is nothing short of what I expected with a 69%, meaning I need

much more additional preparation.

Future Exam Preparation

There is no question that I require an abundance of review and preparation for the

Praxis exam. This practice test has given me the perspective I need to find my

weaknesses and work through them. I have never scored so low on a reading

comprehension exam and will definitely be seeking preparatory classes as well as a

possible tutor. For math I will require multiple courses as well as a tutor and practice
workbooks. For writing I will continue to submit my work to Smartthinking to highlight

and fix my weaknesses.
