A. The Philippine flag is embedded with different symbols. The following are the feature of the
Philippine flag. On the space provided, write the meaning of each feature symbol. (5 points)

1. White Triangle
➢ Symbolizes the distinctive emblem of the famous Society of the “Katipunan” which by
means of its blood compact inspired the masses to rise in revolution.

2. Three Stars
➢ Symbolizes the three principal Islands of this Archipelago- Luzon, Mindanao, and Panay
where this revolutionary movement started.

3. Eight rays of the Sun


➢ Symbolizes the eight provinces- Manila, Cavite, Bulacan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Bataan,
Laguna, and Batangas—which declared themselves in a state of war as soon as the first
revolt was initiated.

4. Colors: Blue, Red and White


➢ Commemorates the flag of the United States of North America, as a manifestation of our
profound gratitude towards this Great Nation for its disinterested protection which it lent
us and continues lending us.
B. In not more than 5 sentences. Give three reasons why The Act of the Declaration Philippines
Independence is important to the grand narrative of Philippine history (5 points).

1. It is very much important because it reflects the hardships and resilience of our ancestors
on overcoming the revolutionary sentiments of that period. Such as friar abuse, racial
discrimination, and inequality.

2. Moreover, many of our soldiers and heroes who fought for our motherland offered their
talents and skills and put their lives at risk to just achieve its independence. Their heroic
stories should serve as lessons to learn as citizens of this country.

3. Lastly, it shows how powerful and united Filipinos can be against any form of oppression
if they stand together as one.
