Higgins, Pickering, and Eliza are coming from the ball.
Unnoticed, gloomy and quiet, a tired Eliza sits,
while Pickering congratulates Higgins on winning the bet. Higgins laughs and calls the evening a "silly tomfoolery," praising god it's over and claiming that he's been bored of the whole thing for the last two months. Still hardly noticing Eliza, the two retired to bed, beyond asking her to leave a message for Mrs. Pearce about coffee.
