Let Earth Be Beautiful

The earth’s curtain is opened

The sky exposes

the rainbow of the earth.
Water glistens off
of each and every deep green leaf.

The fragrance of early morning

seeps into your nostrils, crisp and cool.

My phalanges press deep into the cool,

moist earth as I pat down the delicate plant.

As I pop a tomato into my watering mouth,

I receive the bright notes of the sun.

The wing blows a chime to ring as birds chirp,

one octave higher.

The clouds become engorged and sprinkle the earth.

The sun hides its face as the rain performs its show.

A nearby plant community, surrounded by buildings,

Releases an unpleasant odor
with a monotone of color.
It Has. No. Life.

The earth’s curtain is closed
